As Malaysia welcomes a new government, please continue to pray with us for peace and unity within the country. Pray for justice and equality for all races and religions represented in the country. Pray for the leaders, that they may lead with integrity and wisdom.
These few months have been an emotional roller coaster for the citizen of Malaysia. Election day has left everyone on the edge of their seat waiting to uncover the fate of the country. Malaysian of different races and religious backgrounds have been praying and hoping for a better future for Malaysia.
The youth played a big role in the voting this year as well as the previous government passed the UNDI18 bill which is a bill that reduces the voting age from 21 to 18. The youth can be seen among the voters eager to have their voices heard in determining the fate of the country.
Especially this year, after the great political turmoil that the country has been experiencing as a result of a change of government after 61 years of Barisan National (BN) ruling to the winning of Pakatan Harapan (PH), citizens are desperate for stability. It was announced that Pakatan Harapan has once again won the majority vote putting Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the new Malaysian Prime Minister.
Moving forward, many citizens are welcoming the changes that are included in the PH manifesto. Those changes consist of, tackling the cost-of-living crisis, equality for all, remodelling the education system, building a better response to natural disasters etc.
Most Christians are happy with the winning of PH because the party itself is represented not just by the majority race but also many from the minority such as the Chinese, Indian and the indigenous. The Prime Minister has also announced that the deputy prime minister will be from the indigenous community.
“According to the PH manifesto, they are promoting zero tolerance to those who disrupt the peace and harmony of different races and religions. I look forward to seeing that, not just on papers, but implemented into the system.” Said one of our local partners.
However, many are also praying that the 2018 incident will not happen again where many of the PH MPs have decided to withdraw their support and form a different majority government and as a result, a new Prime Minister was elected not by the people but by the leaders, therefore, violating the country’s democratic nature. Now, everyone is waiting eagerly, and all eyes are on Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his next move.
Please Pray
