Three Iranian Christian converts, including a pregnant woman, have received harsh prison sentences on charges related to their faith.
They were arrested in coordinated raids on their homes in Tehran in autumn 2024, held in Evin Prison, and later released on heavy bail before facing trial.
Their sentencing reflects the ongoing crackdown on Christian converts in Iran.
Will you pray for them today?
Narges Nasri, 37
Halfway through her first pregnancy, Narges has been sentenced to 16 years in prison. She received ten years for “propaganda activities contrary to Islamic law,” five years for house church membership, and one year for social media posts supporting the Women, Life, Freedom movement.
In addition to imprisonment, she has been fined, deprived of social rights for 15 years, banned from joining any group, and prohibited from residing in Tehran or leaving Iran for two years after her release.
Abbas Soori, 48
Abbas was sentenced to 15 years in prison—ten years for “propaganda activities” and five years for house church membership. Like Narges, he has been fined, stripped of social rights for fifteen years, banned from group membership, and prohibited from residing in Tehran or leaving Iran for two years post-release.
Abbas had previously been arrested in 2020 and sentenced to non-custodial punishments alongside other Christians.
Mehran Shamloui, 37
A musician, Mehran received a ten-year and eight-month prison sentence—eight years for “propaganda activities” and two years and eight months for house church membership.
His musical instruments, worth around $5,500, were confiscated during his arrest. He was also fined and deprived of social rights for eleven years.
Pray
Pray for Narges Nasri’s health and the safety of her unborn child, that she will receive proper care and experience God’s strength and peace.
Pray that Abbas Soori and Mehran Shamloui will remain steadfast in their faith, encouraged by the Holy Spirit despite their harsh conditions.
Pray for the release of all imprisoned Christians in Iran and that their sentences will be overturned.
Pray for the families of the detainees. May they find strength, provision, and support in the midst of uncertainty.
Pray for protection and wisdom for Iran’s underground church, that believers will continue to worship and share their faith despite persecution.
Pray that the Iranian authorities will have a change of heart, respect religious freedom, and end the unjust targeting of Christian converts.
