Although Christmas is a time of joyous celebrations for Christians around the world, it can also be a time of hardship for our persecuted family. Christian festivals and holy days are often specifically target by those who wish harm on believers. This year, we have two specific prayer requests coming out of Nigeria over Christmas week.
First, please pray for Pastor Moses, who was kidnapped on December 27. There were early rumours that he had been killed, but these have been dismissed as unconfirmed. So far, there has been no ransom request.
Please pray for Moses’ safe return and that the authorities conducting the search would be granted wisdom.
Please also pray for Christian communities in Southern Borno state, who have been attacked by Boko Haram and many citizens forced to flee.
On Christmas Eve, at least seven people were killed in an attack on the majority-Christian village of Pemi, and another seven were abducted. Several buildings, including a church, were burned down. Since then, four other communities are under simultaneous attack.
Please pray for sufficient response from government forces in restoring peace to these communities. Pray for the Lord’s provision and protection for those kidnapped and pray that they may know his presence and peace amid their circumstances.
