Our partners in Nepal are asking for prayer for Tara*, a believer facing persecution from her own family because of her faith in Christ.
A mother of two sons, Tara* heard about the Gospel and became the only believer in her family.
For years, her husband Ramesh regularly worked in a location away from the family. When he heard about Tara’s newfound faith, he repeatedly threatened her over the phone, warning that he would divorce her if she did not renounce her faith and stop attending church. Since returning to his hometown in December 2024, he has begun physically assaulting her as well.
Ramesh attempted to tear and burn her Bible and has hidden it from her. He has threatened to throw her out of the house and never allow her to return if she disobeys him. He also broke her mobile phone to prevent her from communicating with others. Additionally, he has restricted her from attending church, participating in house fellowship, or associating with other Christians.
Tara is being closely monitored by her husband and in-laws and is being held captive, preventing her from meeting, or contacting other believers. Due to continuous threats and abuse, she is experiencing severe mental distress.
In the last week of February 2025, Tara endured a brutal physical assault at the hands of her husband.
Because of her confinement, local Open Doors partners have been unable to meet her or provide any assistance. Will you pray for your sister today?
Pray
Pray that God grants Tara strength and perseverance to endure the challenges.
Pray for her physical healing and for comfort in emotional and mental distress caused by harassment and isolation.
